Cold Storage wins Audience Award for Best Film, Dead by Dawn 2009

Cold Storage walked away the winner of the Audience Award for Best Film at this year’s Dead by Dawn Film Festival. This sixteen-year-old festival showcases a variety of horror and thriller features and shorts.

Director Tony Elwood and Producer Paul Barrett attended the festival to help promote the film. Tony was recently interviewed by Janice Forsyth, host of The Movie Cafe on BBC Radio Scotland.

“The screening of Cold Storage went off without a hitch”, says director Tony Elwood. The Filmhouse Theatre where the festival is held every year, was packed with enthusiastic moviegoers. “They squirmed, laughed and applauded in all the right moments. It was nice to see that so many people from all over the world got it.”

Dead by Dawn has a reputation for being one of the most fun, informal, inclusive, diverse festivals on the circuit — with an unparalleled commitment to the genre. Whatever kind of horror fan you are, there is something old, something new, something burrowed and something red for you here.

Because of the the wonderful response Cold Storage recieved at Dead by Dawn, the film has been asked to be shown twice at the Macabro Horror Film and Video Festival this August. The festival focuses on promotion and exhbition of national and international fantastic, horror, and cult films.

Macabro began in 2002 as an open space for the exhibition and rescue of the horror genre in a Country with a long tradition of naturalistic Cinema. In four years they have grown as the most relevant and important space for the promotion of the Horror films in Mexico and a huge promoter of Latin American Fantastic and Horror Contemporary Films.

Cold Storage also played at the 2008 Seattle True Independent Film Festival in June. The festival plays the best in off-beat and underground films. Director Tony Elwood and Producer Paul Barrett found a receptive audience for the quirky thriller.
